TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION IN THE PHILIPPINE EDUCATION


In Miriam College (MC), they’ve come up with their own E-Learning tool project to a pilot batch of First Year High School students. “Pre-Christmas break of school year 2010-2011, in the line of institution’s trust towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, we thought of availing the most versatile form of mobile and digital learning device that is not actually a replacement of instruction but rather an ‘aid instruction’,” said Miriam College High School Principal, Mr. Edizon A. Fermin, Ph.D.


The Global Filipino School was turned over in December 2012 to Bilar National High School by Globe Telecom, with improved facilities and infrastructure. Students had to share the computers and the cramped space at the old computer lab of BNHS (left photo). The building is now equipped with multimedia peripherals and wired and wireless Internet connection and to improve the learning experience for BNHS students. During the turnover held Dec. 12, BNHS ICT instructor Armand Lagria presented an overview of the plans for the Global Filipino School (right).

The University of the Philippines Information Technology Training Center (UP ITTC) was established by the Japanese and Philippine governments through the University of the Philippines (UP) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to address the inadequate practical training and industry experience of Filipino IT graduates. 

To bring Filipinos to the frontiers of science and technology, Sony will provide top-of-the-line and state-of-the-art gadgets such as Bravia LCD television units, touch screen VAIOs, 3D Projector Systems, among others, to the museum.

Graduating students of the one year, full-time Certificate in IT course of the University of the Philippines Information Technology Training Center (UPITTC) presented their course projects to ITTC’s industry partners and the Japanese International Cooperating Agency (JICA) Study Team for the Advanced IT-HRD Project last Friday, April 30, 2010 at the UP Campus in Diliman, Quezon City.
